A Yamaha MT-01 served as base for a lightweight, agile and handling-oriented version of this bike. The main priority for the L1.7R was to reduce the masses - especially the unsprung and rotating masses. In the second I strived for a more dynamic power evolvement with a moderare increase of engine power.
Of course I wanted to check weather the expensive OEM-offered Stage III components (including: forged high compression pistons, narrow-timed camshafts, stiffer valve and clutch springs, a new air intake system and a remapped ecu) would really work as bad as the press had tested them. After 1000 kilometres of breaking in, I fully stripped the bike of and began to rethink some main solutions in order to reduce the masses. The weigt of the L1.7R was decreased by 34 kg - the engines power was increased by 15 hp More information soon to come.
